The book presents a series of papers describing the latest research that shows how design thinking, making, and acting contributes to the co-design and development of products, spaces, and services with people living with dementia. We know that there is currently no cure for dementia that millions of people live with all over the world, but the innovative and empathetic designed interventions described in this book can address stigma, isolation, loss of confidence, and raise awareness and greater understanding of dementia.
The book comprises 18 chapters from design researchers based all over the world describing original work that highlights the significant impacts that design-led research projects are delivering in dementia health and social care contexts. The book includes pioneering work from design researchers based in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Australia, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil spanning a range of design and other disciplines including product design, textile design, interaction design, graphic design, music, psychology, human-computer interaction (HCI), and the social sciences.
